Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult Celebrates Second Princess Royal Training Award Recognition

The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult has been re-awarded the prestigious Princess Royal Training Award, marking the second time the organisation has received this exceptional recognition for excellence in its skills and training programmes for advanced therapies.

This achievement celebrates the outstanding impact of the Life Sciences Learner Hub, alongside the Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) and Skills and Training Laboratories – three world-leading programmes that form CGT Catapult’s comprehensive skills portfolio.

Since launching in December 2020, the Life Sciences Learner Hub has transformed ATMP training infrastructure across the UK, supporting over 4,200 professionals from more than 300 organisations. With more than 9,000 courses completed and partnerships with 39 specialist training providers, the platform has become the definitive destination for cell and gene therapy training, consolidating industry-recognised programmes in one convenient location.

The Princess Royal Training Award recognises UK employers whose exceptional training programmes deliver measurable benefits to both business and staff or learners. This second award demonstrates the Catapult’s continued leadership in addressing the sector’s critical skills gaps, particularly as the UK advanced therapies industry experiences unprecedented growth.

Kathy Varley, Head of L&D and Talent at Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, said:

“I’m incredibly proud to share that the Skills Team at Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult has once again been recognised with a Princess Royal Training Award 2025! This prestigious honour is a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of the team in developing talent both within our organisation and across the wider industry.

It’s a moment of pride not just for us, but for our industry and training partners who have pioneered, steered and engaged with these programmes – this recognition belongs to you!”

Kristy Novakovic, Life Sciences Learner Hub Project Support Officer at Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult said:

We’re excited and honoured to receive this recognition for a second time. It really validates our collaborative approach – bringing together industry expertise, cutting-edge training content, and accessible delivery methods to create programmes that genuinely meet the sector’s evolving needs. The Life Sciences Learner Hub is a brilliant example of how we’re working with our partners to develop talent pipelines that support both individual career growth and the innovation that ultimately benefits patients worldwide.”
